2026 is the Year of Good News!

2026 is the Year of Good News!

Last Sunday, Pastor Curtis shared his vision about all the good things to come at GTC in 2026. Here are the exciting highlights:

Core Vision Theme

  • 2026 is the Year of Good News
  • The church is called to rediscover, live, and carry the real Good News of Jesus right here in our city and our world.

Key Scripture

  • Luke 4:18–21
  • “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favour [jubilee] has come.” He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”

The Church’s Call

  • The Holy Spirit empowers the mission
  • Be the Good News
  • The vision is not just to hear it – but to live it.

1. Hear & Experience the Good News

  • Teaching focused on Luke 4 throughout the year
  • Emphasis on the Holy Spirit
    • Who is the Holy Spirit? What’s He doing in my life? What does it mean to be called, anointed, and set apart? How do we live the good life in relationships, finances, etc.?
  • Connection groups and relationship building
  • Prayer available at every service
  • Encounter nights and spiritual emphasis gatherings
  • New Believers Class to help people grow in faith

2. Share the Good News

  • Intentional prayer for at least one person to reach:
    • Who am I called to share the Good News with?
  • Expectation for increased salvations and baptisms
  • Tools and media made easy to share
  • Living out the Great Commission, not just believing it

3. Be the Good News

  • Live with love, compassion, and bold faith
  • Meet practical needs in the community
    • In December 2025, we were able to end the year by blessing local communities and agencies
  • Serve the poor, oppressed, broken-hearted, and overlooked
  • Be known as a church people want to hear from
  • Be the hands and feet of Jesus

Jubilee Vision: Freedom Through Generosity

  • The church carries a remaining mortgage of $350,000
  • We have an opportunity for a one-time lump-sum payoff
  • Goal: Enter a season of financial freedom to expand mission and ministry
  • Vision: Declare freedom and celebration by the end of the year

Let it be said of Glad Tidings Church that we heard it, shared it, and became it.
