Faith was never meant to stop with us.
In the final week of our On Repeat: Summer in the Psalms series, Pastor Curtis Gudrie looks at Psalm 78 and the responsibility we have to pass the story of God’s faithfulness on to the next generation.
We have each received a spiritual “baton” from those who came before us. The question is: Will we make the handoff?
Psalm 78 challenges us to remember what God has done, tell the next generation about His faithfulness, teach them His truth, and demonstrate through our lives what following Jesus really looks like.
In this message, we explore three important challenges:
1. Listen Up
Remember God’s faithfulness and recognize that we have an important story to tell.
2. Pass It On
Tell it. Teach it. Live it. Our words matter, but the way we live our faith may speak even louder.
3. Don’t Drop It
When we faithfully invest in the next generation, we can believe that they will know God, put their hope in Him, remember His works, follow Him faithfully, and one day pass the baton on again.
The next generation shouldn’t have to guess whether God is real to us. God has been faithful to us—but His faithfulness was never meant to stop with us.
This week, how can you help pass it on?
Value the next generation. Listen to them. Pray for them. Invest in them. Encourage them. And remind them that they have a story of their own to pass on.
